Rodeo action coming up at Imbil show
The Mary Valley Show is held each year on the 3rd weekend of August at the Imbil Showgrounds in the picturesque Mary Valley just west of Noosa and in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast..
A full program of rodeo events attracting a large number of competitors. The rough riders commence at 1.30pm. This includes Saddle Bronc, Bareback Ride, and the Mary Valley Show Society Bull ride, with $1,500.00 prize money up for grabs. Thrills and spills for everyone. The Mary Valley Rodeo, is NRA affiliated and is one of the largest in Sth East Qld.
At this rodeo you get everything from the junior bull ride and barrel race to bucking broncs.
Ring events commence at 8.00 am with showjumping, led classes, hack classes and junior riding classes. Novelty events after the ring events finish are always very popular and attract many competitors.
Young beef handlers now have the opportunity to compete with their prime led cattle in the newly introduced Prime Beef Section. There are also open sections for Prime Beef Classes.
The annual Woodchop Event is a major draw on showday. This attracts competitors from far and near. It is quite a coup to win at the Mary Valley Wood Chop Event.
Visit the show pavilion all day from 8.30am-4.30pm to see the produce displays, school childrens art and writing skills, craft, cooking, horticulture and hobby competitions.
Children will love side show alley with rides and fun for all ages and plenty of hamburgers, chips, strawberries and cream available.
The Mary Vallay Show boasts market stalls, vintage cars and machinery, static displays, cottage craft, jewellery and ornaments and other displays that include live animals such as reptiles, farm animals, animal nursery and more.
There is a great choice of food and beverages and a licenced bar till late. The Strawberries and Cream stall featuring fresh fruit salad as well, is a must for everyone.
Live entertainment features from lunchtime onwards. 2010 included fashion shows and dance displaysand a live band featuring Rob Black, Jamie Dunn and the Dunny Can Band with the guest appearance of Agro.
7.30pm sees the major fireworks display that is annual feature of the show.
Canteens and licensed bars operate all day and into the night.
